GT

To say there were 3 happy boys in our house yesterday would be an understatement. Ok, so Logan doesn't know what is going on (he did wear GT apparel though) and Jacob had on the wrong team but was cheering GT. Yeah, our boys were happy! Go jackets!

Thankful

"How can we thank God enough for you in return for the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?" I Thes 3:9

"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever"
Ps 136:1

We have so much to be thankful for this year. What a blessing to get to pause for a day and remember everything we have to be thankful for. May you soak up His many blessings today and everyday!

School Thanksgiving Feast

What do you wear when you hear your brother is an indian for the day? The cowboy outfit you have been waiting to wear! Not quite pilgrims and indians but a good excuse to wear the cowboy outfit!
Jacob's preschool thanksgiving feast was last week. We got to see some of their daily routine. Before they go to lunch, the teacher holds up a sign of their name, they recognize their own name, go to the sign and point to each letter. They are all doing a great job. Jacob was the next to last child so by the time it was his turn, he walked up to the teacher and spouted off J-A-C-O-B!

This is the famous Charlotte (yellow head band), Jacob's little girlfriend

The pledge which we say ANY time we see an american flag

Trying New Things

Logan is loving his new exersaucer/bouncer that our good friends Cooper & Bella passed on to us. (Yes, THE Cooper! If you are around Jacob any amount of time, you have heard of Cooper, his best buddy.) Bella and Logan are exactly one year apart and Bella has moved on to bigger and better things and Logan is so happy she outgrew this! He really goes to town in this thing.
No matter how much fun you are having in your new toy, it is always nice to have big brother around though.

Logan has also tried cereal this week. The first time we think he liked it, then he had a couple of days that he could take it or leave it, then a day where he was not interested at all, then today he seemed to like it. Even with this response, he already has responded better than Jacob. I remember thinking, "he has to learn to like this stuff! He can't nurse forever!" It took him weeks to even tolerate it. You can tell from one look @ Logan, he isn't missing any meals!:)

We are looking forward to this week. As any other week, we have so much to be thankful for but it is nice to have a time set aside to count our blessings. Coming soon....a new list of Jacobisms. He has had me rolling this past week. I try to write them down quick before I forget. And by the way if you run into him, he would like for you to call him Aiden and from his own mouth, "until at least next week.":) If only laughing burnt calories, I would be a skinny Minnie!

FRIENDS

This week when we went to B'ham we got to go to the children's museum. The boys were in heaven when they saw the special exhibit was an entire floor of trains! Leslie came over with her youngest, Jonathan and Abigail. We were all at seminary together and loved getting to see each other. I love that our kids got to play together.

Abigail

Caleb and Jacob really enjoyed racing cars and spend a lot of time with the cars!!!

Some down town, can you tell they are into their show?:)

Joshua doing a little light reading

Last weekend we got to get together with some of Inman's college buddies (we're all buddies now but GT was where it started) Again so fun to see our kids playing together!

When these characters get together, OH MY the stories we hear! There are a few oldie but goodie ones that we hear every time! Can you believe now they are daddies and the cuties above belong to them?!

Catch up

I have to catch up with the last couple of weeks. Last week we celebrated Mom's b-day.
Aunt Steph gets some cuddle time with her boys.

We had a great time having dinner and Dad's famous carrot cake. I even used all of my bonus WW points to enjoy some too! Grandmomma and Granddaddy gave mom a very special frame with pictures of her with each of her grandparents. Jacob got a kick out of seeing Mema when she was a baby with her grandparents! Happy birthday Mom!

Not blogging

For the oddles of you that read this blog: (You use words like Oddles when you live with a 3 yr old...how do you spell that anyway?)

I am not blogging for the next 2 days. What I hear right now is music to my ears. Chaotic music but wonderful music. The music of the Houston boys and the Platt boys playing together. And I will spend the next 24 hours in therapy. Therapy is getting to chat with Heather until my throat hurts because we laughed, talked and cried. Our other friend Leslie is driving over this morning so 3 pastor's wives getting to be together for a few hours is the equal to high dollar therapy! Yep, I am on vacation. When you see the pics in a few days of 4 very busy boys (5 months, 11 months, 2 & 3) you will think what kind of vacation is that. Just the kind I needed!

5 months, a day late

Logan was 5 months old yesterday! It was a busy day so there was no post but I did think to myself several times how once again I could not believe he was already 5 months old! I thought about getting the camera and taking a picture last night....of "real life." I always post these pictures of everyone smiling and things looking so under control:) minus an occasional stack of laundry in the background. Last night Logan cried the entire time I was getting Jacob into the bathtub, everything laid out for today basically the last hour he was awake. Jacob was being the ever so helpful big brother and getting RIGHT in Logan's face, talking too loud and real everything he did was LOUD. As I am sure a lot of houses are, the time between dinner and bedtime (especially done by a solo parent) can be crazy. That would have been a great 5 month picture! (If your houses are chaotic between dinner and bedtime, don't tell me about it!)

God is with us everywhere we go

Sometimes when you write on your blog you aren't writing for everyone else. You are writing because you want to journal for your kids. Sometimes you are blogging because you haven't written (with a pen) in their journals in a LONG time. This is one of those times because otherwise you would think that I had a problem and bragged about my children, thought they were the cutest things in the world and used my blog to show everyone else how wonderful they are. You may think that and that is fine, I have heard other bloggers say, "well after all it is MY blog!"
Last night we were reading Jacob's little devotional before bed. It always ask a question at the end. Usually if it is easy, he gets it. "who loves you?" "God" He is already very good @ the "Sunday school answers." But if it is one that is harder he gets distracted, starts telling a story or answers a completely different question. The devotion last night was how God could be called many different names, our protector etc. At the end I asked Jacob "what do you think of when you think of God?" His answer was "God is always with me everywhere I go." Yea! He is learning a song in choir that the line repeated over and over is God is always with me everywhere I go and it has stuck!

Praying these little guys always remember that God is always with us everywhere we go. Great lesson for us adults too!

Prayer

This afternoon many of us may be trying to balance a lot at one time. Trying to vote, get our kids to where they need to go, down for naps, work, fight traffic, the normal stress of everyday life. The organization of my day has involved trying to vote, will my kids nap at the same time so I can get some stuff done? can I get dinner cooked, go to the grocery store, Inman run home to see the kids yet still minister to a church member this evening while also being gone almost every evening this week? The normal stress of everyday life. That's our life but not one bit stressful. For the Sweeney family their new daily stress is about a fight for his life. Please be praying for this family & check out their caring bridge site. Mike Sweeney has touched many lives through his ministry with Young Life. Please join us in praying http://caringbridge.org/visit/mikesweeney

Trick or Treat

The picture above says it all....we all had a great time trick or treating. Jacob especially! He literally ran from house to house with his cousins and neighbors.

Cousins, Matthew & Drew had fun with their friends

Not sure if you can tell or not but Nathan has is skeleton hand around Jacob when they were getting the pictures taken.

We are trying to recover from a little sugar overload plus a time change but lots of FUN!

pumpkin time

We had a great time carving our pumpkin Thursday night. Just like last year Jacob was interested for a few minutes, didn't love touching the slime inside and Daddy ended up carving the pumpkin without his helper. It was worth it though, Jacob told us he loved his pumpkin when it was all said and done.

Logan loved watching and being entertained by big brother

We were thankful that despite the fact that we put the pumpkin (with candle inside) on the front porch and forgot about it that we didn't burn down our (rented!) home!!!
I looked outside the next morning to make sure a teenage boy had not decided to "play" with our pumpkin and there was our pumpkin.....candle still burning over 12 hours later! Whew, that was a close one!
